Strengths

The El Tesoro copper deposit has reserves of 127 million tonnes of copper oxides of which 95% are categorised as proven.

The company benefits from being in the centre of an important mining region, which includes some of the largest copper mines in the world such as Chuquicamata, Escondida, El Abra and Radomiro Tomic. The availability of a skilled mining workforce, well established road and rail networks together with a range of services specifically geared to support large scale mining, facilitates the operation at El Tesoro.

The plant uses the SX-EW process, a proven and efficient technology which reduces risks both in construction and operation.

El Tesoro grade A copper cathodes were certified and registered by the London Metal Exchange in July 2003, after a very rigorous testing process. LME certification allows the company to have access to a very large universe of customers.
